How The Legend of Sinardia was born

Tras la finalización de la versión inglesa, creo que toca escribir sobre este tema, algo sobre lo que yo normalmente no escribo. Creo que, a veces, que quien ha escrito una historia, escriba sobre cómo llegó a plasmarla y desarrollarla hace que pierda un poco el misterio y la intriga. Pero no va a ser así en este caso, en la que sólo voy a dar algunas pinceladas muy breves sobre cómo nació hace ya bastantes años.

Lo primero es señalar que a veces las esperas entre los juicios (sí, soy abogado en mi vida “real”) se tornan lentas y pesadas, especialmente en la jurisdicción laboral. Así que, o bien te preparas juicios posteriores, o bien haces tareas ajenas a la profesión, como hablar con compañeros (no siempre se habla de trabajo) que están en la misma situación de espera, lees un libro o escribes. Lo primero, preparar juicios de días posteriores (los del día hay que prepararlos antes de que comience la jornada de tribunales o lo vas a pasar mal) puede estar bien si no llevas mucho peso y tienes la documentación a mano: ahora con la nube, es posible; antes que era todo en papel, no lo era.

Y así empecé a escribir en hojas de cuadernos que ya no valían, en las que no había escrito de las agendas o en hojas que ya estaban escritas por una parte pero la otra estaba vacía, diálogos, imágenes o personajes que me parecían interesantes.

Sin embargo, el inicio no se situaba donde ahora, en el ataque a Sinningen. Se situaba unos 500 años después y se contaba toda la historia que estoy contando con flashbacks. Sobre algo de aquello que entonces escribí sí he escrito ya, pero la mayoría de lo que he escrito desde abril pasado, aunque basado en las notas que tenía de esos flashbacks, es nuevo.

Lo que no ha variado es la idea del mundo, su geografía y orografía y los personajes principales. El único que añadí el año pasado (los demás estaban hasta descritos) es, sorprendentemente, Awlin, el fantasma bromista que ha perdido la memoria pero, por otro lado, está muerto de miedo del Ser de la Voz Plateada. La versión en libro será más completa y estará corregida y completada con algunas historias que arrojan claridad ahora (como la historia de la espada más famosa de Sinardia, la AüroPhlam o la historia de la Orden de las Orantes) bien ahora o bien para sucesos ulteriores.

En cuanto al desarrollo futuro, la historia del segundo libro está diseñada aquí en entradas, aunque faltan algunas aventuras que sólo saldrán en el libro: habrá alguna sorpresa, pero fundamentalmente se contará la historia de Malaban, desde el pasado antiguo, así como el cruce de los túneles de los duendes hasta el puente de Ko-Or-Natu.

La del tercer libro está comenzada ya pero no voy a desvelar nada por el momento. Y la del cuarto y quinto libros están pensadas aunque aún no tengo nada escrito. No creo que necesite un sexto libro pero, en este momento, no puedo decirlo y, en cualquier caso, habrá que ver cómo se recibe este primer libro y si a la gente le interesa que continúe la historia hasta el final.

En estos días me voy a centrar en los mapas. Uno ya está terminado, el del Imperio de Sinardia; pero me quedan por diseñar correctamente dos: el de la Gran Fortaleza de Tandras y el del Monasterio de Sinningen. Ambos están en boceto pero quiero rehacerlos en la tablet y que queden claros. Eso sí, los estoy haciendo a mano porque no me gustan los programas que he ido viendo.

Por último, está la cuestión de las imágenes. Creo que el libro va a tener un apartado de imágenes al final con dibujos sobre los personajes. Veremos si al final los añado o no.

Cada semana hasta que se publique el libro, iré poniendo alguna pincelada sobre la historia. Si alguien tiene alguna duda o cuestión sobre la que prefiera que escriba, me lo dice y lo añadiré en alguna de esas pinceladas.

After completing the English version, I think it's time to write about this topic, something I don't normally write about. I think that sometimes, when a writer writes about how they came to write something, it loses a bit of the mystery and intrigue. But that won't be the case here, where I'm only going to give a few very brief glimpses into how this story began many years ago.

The first thing to note is that sometimes the waits between court hearings (yes, I am lawyer in “real” life) can become slow and tedious, especially in the labor jurisdiction. So, either you prepare for subsequent court hearings, or you do tasks outside your profession, such as talking to colleagues (not always talking about work) who are in the same waiting situation, reading a book, or writing. Preparing court hearings for subsequent days (you have to prepare for those on the day before the court day begins, or you'll have a trying time) can be good if you're not carrying too much weight and have the documentation on hand: now with the cloud, it's possible; before, when everything was on paper, it wasn't.

And so I began to write it dialogues images, or characters that seemed interesting to me in sheets that were already partially used or in the places of previous years’ agendas that weren’t used.

However, the beginning of the story wasn't where it is now, with the attack on Sinningen. It was set some 500 years later, and the entire story that you have read, was told in flashbacks. I've already written about some of what I wrote back then, but most of what I've written since last April, although based on the notes I had from those flashbacks, is new.

What hasn't changed is the idea of ​​the world, its geography and topography, and the main characters. The only one I added last year (the others were even described) is, surprisingly, Awlin, the trickster ghost who has lost his memory but, on the other hand, is terrified of the Being with the Silver Voice. The book version will be more complete and will be corrected and completed with some stories that shed light to events happening now (such as the story of Sinardia's most famous sword, the AüroPhlam, or the story of the Order of the Orantes), or for later events.

As for future developments, the story of the second book is outlined here in posts, although some will only appear in the book: there will be some surprises, but essentially the story of Malaban will be told, from the ancient past, as well as the crossing of the duenxy tunnels to the Ko-Or-Natu Bridge.

I have already began the story of the third book, but I won't reveal anything for now. And the fourth and fifth books are planned, although I haven't written anything yet. The fifth book is the one that actually tells the story I began writing some years ago in between court hearings, but I don’t know if that story can be fit in one book or will need more. Anyway, I can't say for sure right now and we'll have to see how this first book is received and whether people are interested in continuing the story to the end.

In the coming days, I'm going to focus on the maps of the 1st book. One is already finished, that of the Sinardia Empire; but I still have two more to properly design: that of the Great Fortress of Tandras and that of the Sinningen Monastery. Both are in draft form, but I want to redo them on the tablet so they're clearer. I'm doing them by hand because I don't like the programs I've been trying.

Finally, there's the matter of the images. I think the book will have an image section at the end with drawings of the characters. We'll see if I add them in the end or not.

Every week until the book is published, I'll add a few touches to the story. If anyone has any questions or issues they'd prefer me to write about, let me know, and I'll add them to one of those touches.
